What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture originated in China and has been used successfully to heal numerous illnesses and injuries for more than two millennia. The body is seen as having a network of pathways or meridians through which energy is constantly moving. Small, hair-like needles are used throughout the body to move blocked energy that may be flowing improperly due to physical or psychological issues, such as injury or stress. While scientists of western medicine have a hard time explaining how acupuncture works, one theory is that the body’s natural electrical energy can be used to stimulate self-healing & produce a powerful physical change.
At Health and Fitness, our acupuncturists focus on treating the root cause of your injury. Conditions such as sciatica, bursitis, and tendonitis are signs of an imbalanced body. Our goal as acupuncturists is to re-harmonize your system to help prevent relapses of injury once your physical therapy is complete. We work with your physical therapist, chiropractor and/or pain management physician in order to best direct your treatments and recovery.

What can you expect on your first visit:
What is your primary concern? How does your pain effect your life? What are your treatment goals? On the first visit our doctors will assess your condition using our signature examination process. They will use the historical information you provide to them, your expected goals, along with their findings during the evaluation exam, to build a custom rehabilitation process specific to your needs.
The doctor’s at Health and Fitness will also inform you if you’ll benefit from co-treating with other in house specialties, along with whether imaging like X-Rays will benefit you.
